The 5E Learning Cycle

The 5E Learning Cycle is based on the the constructivist theory of teaching. I have been learning more and more about this and hope to start incorporating this into my teaching method.  This learning cycle has 5 easy steps: Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate. This learning cycle based on the constructivist theory is a more hands on approach to teaching and is more student centered. I think that by using this cycle in my classroom, my students will be more actively engaged in the learning process.I am really excited to try this new method!

Engage: Get students actively engaged, provoke interest

Explore: Explore the concepts, begin activities

Explain: Explain concepts and processes

Extend: Apply concepts and processes

Evaluate: Students can self evaluate

ICT Games are AWESOME!!!

I have found the website ictgames.com to be very helpful. It has a variety of different games and activities that you can play. Some of the links under the student resources part are from ictgames.com as well. The website contains lots of student resources for both numeracy and literacy. I am excited to be able to use some of these activities in my lessons with you guys as well. I went on and played some of the math games myself and they were pretty awesome! I think that you are going to enjoy them. Go explore and see for yourself. Can't wait to hear about your experiences!

Teacher Tube is the BEST!!!

I found this really cool website for teachers. You can find it at teachertube.com. For those of you that know about youtube.com, this website is very similar to it. I have found so many different teaching resources on this website. You can search for any kind of video to go with the lesson or training that you are doing. I am so excited to be able to use this website in my classroom as a technology resource. I think that my students are going to love it as well!
